Rich,

I've never attended an event like this before. Will you please tell me what's the
reason/goal/objective of these events, wha are they like and what kind of people attend them? Also, how much do they cost? is there a reservation sheet? do you have to be a member of any organization to participate? anything else i should know or be aware of?

Thank you

Rich,

Nerd Dinners are a very informal gathering of folks. The goal is to have fun and eat crappy mall food :). The best place to get a feel for things is at: http://nerddinner.com/blogs/portland/. Also, Jim Blizzard, the 'father' of the Portland Nerd Dinner, has information on his blog at: http://snowstormlife.com/blogs/bliz/.

Generally, attendance is somewhere between one and three dozen people. Obviously, it tends to be fairly easy to spot a bunch of nerds gathered together in a mall food court. If you know Washington Square, the group usually finds tables in front of the picture place. That does depend on availability, though.

It's pretty much arrive, get something to eat, and sit around and talk.

Rich
