I know they have been a bit disparaged elsewhere, but I have tell you, I continue to be a very happy customer of Webhost4life.

I've had three positive experiences in the last 24 hours. First, I've noticed that they now advertise 300MB of space for my “Advanced Plan.” When I signed up, it was only 150MB. One quick post on their help system and it is resolved!

Second, I noted that the site was down last night for a while. Why is that positive? Because, in the year and a half that I have been here, I have never seen my site down for more than a refresh or two. I realize that I may have missed some instances, but I have no complaint there.

Third, there was a configuration error that Aaron was kind enough to tell me about today. I made a quick phone call to Webhost4life and the problem was resolved in minutes! “Reggin” even made me try it and make sure everything worked before he would get off the phone. Great Job!

For personal hosting, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a much better deal than what Webhost4life provides. Plenty of bells and whistles for a very reasonable price.

I've been quite happy with Webhost4Life as well. My only complaint is that I originally signed up a few years ago in the Windows 2000 days, and they now include SharePoint services hosting with their advanced plan, and when I asked for SharePoint hosting they charged me a $10 fee to move me to a Server 2003 box. I pointed out that they advertised it as part of the service I was paying for, but they insisted that since I was "upgrading" my server I had to pay the fee. I eventually just paid it since it wasn't worth the fight.

Haven't tried to do the SharePoint stuff yet. I will try it at home, first. I would probably tend to agree with you, though. I won't get too flummoxed over a one-time, $10 fee for such a service. I figure it's one of the extras one pays for the overall low cost.

I have very good experience so far with webhost4life. The reason I went with them was their customer testimonials at http://webhost4life.com/testimonial.asp

I havn't see any other host with these kind of testimonial on a daily basis.

Lucky enough, I did got the same excellent service from them.

Yes to webhost4life! I am using them for 5yrs already, things are just getting better and better. Espeically their support! I am glad that each time I have a tech question, they are able to point me to the right direction, eventho it's not part of their job. Keep up the good work webhost4life !

Webhost4life is the best host I've used so far. Their control panel is user friendly and support service is amazing. They do so much more compare to other provider like godaddy or 1and1. And they know much more when it comes to DNN. I am glad that I am with them now and will stay with them 4life !

Site is fast and never had any problems with it.

WH4L customer service has been rubbish for as long as I can remember.

They change the terms and conditions, adding restrictions, changing limits, etc, without any warning - forcing you to suddenly pay additional money to do what you could do only yesterday.

The control panel (for administration of your websites, domains, email, etc) is terrible. It is clunky and un-intuitive.

Their support staff (?!) make mistakes all the time - it often takes 4 or 5 messages on their support system before you get an answer that remotely makes any sense or indicates that the author has bothered to read any of your initial request.

The speed of their servers is also unbelievable slow. On an 8 meg connection, their servers deliver less than 50kbps transfer speed over either FTP or HTTP. Awful.

As Aaron indicated previously, they get away with many of their additional charges because they are relatively small (e.g. $10-$15 each) and they simply refuse to budge if you complain.

Personally, I think that the positive reviews of WH4L you find online have been written by Erwin Yu, WH4L "CEO" (!?) - or from customers who really don't use any of the features that the company advertises (or they would realise how poorly supported they are).

Customer Service: 2 out of 10 (their support is just absolutely terrible)
Price: 7 / 10 (would be higher, but there are lots of 'hidden' fees - you pay for everything you do).
Overall: 4 / 10

In summary: you get what you pay for, except with WH4L you don't - you just keep paying and not getting. AVOID !!!
